Subterrain. My affection for a city is in exact proportion to its ability to freak me out on a daily basis. Although Chicago is no NYC, the El train runs underground for a good portion of the Loop, and is frequented by enough eccentric characters to make it the best people-watching environment you'll ever spend $1.75 on.
